Student Conduct:
* Students must conduct themselves in a professional demeanor at all times on school property and take direction from staff.* Unacceptable conduct may result in immediate dismissal.

Attendance Policy:
Cosmetology
The Maryland State Board of Cosmetologists requires that students attend all 1500 clock hours of the program to be eligible to sit for the licensing examination. That means that any missed hours must be made up. Make-up hours will be allowed at no additional charge. However, the Maryland Higher Education Commission requires that students must maintain, at a minimum, an 80% attendance rate. Therefore, total clock hours that can be made up cannot exceed 300, which is the remaining 20% of the 1500 clock hour program. If the required number of make-up hours exceed 300, the student will be terminated. A diploma will not be awarded until the missed hours (not to exceed 300) are made up (not to exceed a 3 month period. These hours must be completed during the course of the contract). Attendance will be evaluated on a monthly basis and recorded on the student's permanent record card. Attendance will be averaged on a quarterly basis. Any quarterly average of attendance below 80% will be cause for termination. In addition, when averaging quarterly attendance, any quarter that has any two months below 80% will be cause for termination. No student will be allowed to miss ten consecutive days without being terminated. TARDINESS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. Students are required to be on time and remain in school for the entire day. A student may take one leave of absence during the course and that leave cannot exceed sixty(60) calendar days. If a student requires longer than the 60 days period, they must withdraw from the program. The student may apply to re-enroll at a later time. A new contract will be made and the student re-evaluated by the director. POLICY FOR MAKING UP MISSED HOURS: Full-time cosmetology students must make-up missed allowable hours at the end of their contracted time.

Nail Technology
The Maryland State Board of Cosmetology requires that students attend all 250 clock hours of the program to be eligible to sit for the licensing examination. That means that any missed hours must be made up. Make-up hours will be allowed at no additional charge to the student. However, the Maryland Higher Education Commission requires that student must maintain, at a minimum, an 80% attendance rate. Therefore, total clock hours that can be made up cannot exceed 50, which is the remaining 20% of the 250 clock hour program. If the required number of make up hours exceed 50, the student will be terminated. A diploma will not be awarded until the missed hours (not to exceed 50) are made up during the contracted time. Nail technology students who have missed allowable hours may attend school on Monday or Friday for the intended purpose of making up missed allowable hours. RATE OF ATTENDANCE AND PROBATION: If a student's rate of attendance, is below 80% at the end of any month and has not exceeded the maximum allowable, the student will be placed on probation for the next month. If at the end of the probationary period the student's rate of attendance is still below 80% or has exceeded the maximum allowable, the student will be terminated.

Make-Up In Artistry
Students must attend all 42 clock hours of the program to be eligible to apply for certification. That means that any missed hours must be made up. Make up hours will be allowed at no additional charge to the student. However, school policy dictates that students must maintain, at a minimum, an 85% attendance rate. Therefore, total clock hours that can be made up cannot exceed 6, which is the remaining 15% of the 42 clock hour program. If the required number of make up hours exceed 6, the student will be terminated. A diploma will not be awarded until the missed hours (not to exceed 6) are made up during the contracted time. RATE OF ATTENDANCE AND PROBATION: If a student's rate of attendance is below 85% at the end of any day and has not exceeded the maximum allowable, the student will be placed on probation for the next two days. If at the end of the probationary period the student's rate of attendance is still below 85% or has exceeded the maximum allowable, the student will be terminated.
